Minna Bank, one of Japan's leading banks in digital transformation, has launched a joint research project with Solana, Fireblocks, and TIS to explore how stablecoin technology can revolutionize consumer financing.

The collaboration announced by the bank aims to evaluate how digital wallets and blockchain-based financial solutions can be adapted to Japan's mobile-first user base.

Minna Bank, which is fully digital and part of the Fukuoka Financial Group, stated in its announcement that the research will focus on areas such as payment systems, on-chain banking infrastructure, and user experience. This initiative comes at a time when the market value of stablecoins has exceeded 250 billion dollars, accelerating banks' efforts to modernize cross-border payments, deposits, and payment processes.

Fireblocks CEO Michael Shaulov stated that this project could create new efficiencies in the value transfer processes of the digital economy. Minna Bank's customer base is predominantly composed of individuals aged 15-39, who are underserved by traditional banking systems. This transforms the bank into an ideal testing ground for stablecoin-based solutions.
