HIVE Digital acquisition of the Toronto website to build an AI data center

HIVE Digital Technologies has announced plans to transform a new 7.2 megawatt data center in Toronto into a leading artificial intelligence (AI) hub. Acquired through its subsidiary BUZZ HPC, this will be the company's first Tier 3 data center focused on AI infrastructure.

The facility will be upgraded to support liquid cooling systems and accommodate up to 5,000 high-performance GPUs, serving large-scale AI training and inference operations for both the public and private sectors.

Craig Tavares, the chairman and COO of BUZZ HPC, emphasized the importance of building AI infrastructure within national borders, ensuring data residency rights and digital sovereignty. The center will also support sensitive workloads of government and enterprises, reinforcing Canada's position in the field of AI and innovation.
