ChatGPT has exploded with over 20 million users' account information being leaked and sold on the Darknet, OpenAI: Investigating.
Artificial intelligence giant OpenAI was hacked this morning. A hacker claimed to have obtained login credentials for over 20 million user accounts and attempted to sell them on the Darknet. OpenAI spokesperson responded that the company is investigating the incident and maintains that its system is secure. This alleged intrusion incident has raised concerns among global users and cybersecurity experts. If confirmed, this would be the third major security incident for OpenAI since the release of ChatGPT to the public. OpenAI has a large user base, with over 250 million weekly active users worldwide. These users utilize ChatGPT models for business, education, and personal assistant tasks, which may result in the leakage of private conversations, business plans, and sensitive information. While security researchers are uncertain about the authenticity of this hacking incident, OpenAI advises users to change their passwords immediately and consider enabling two-factor authentication to enhance security. Furthermore, OpenAI emphasizes the importance of monitoring account activity for any unauthorized access and remaining vigilant against phishing scams. Tether, the leading stablecoin issuer, expressed concerns about the OpenAI hacking incident. Tether's CEO, Paolo Ardoino, previously stated that their next major goal is to develop a decentralized and localized AI model that can run on personal devices like smartphones, in order to mitigate the risks associated with centralized AI models processing massive amounts of data and better protect individuals' privacy.
