US media: Google invests $2.4 billion to acquire Windsurf technology license and hires its CEO.

Jin10 data reported on July 12, according to The Wall Street Journal, informed sources revealed that Google (GOOG.O) has agreed to pay approximately $2.4 billion to obtain a technology license from the artificial intelligence coding startup Windsurf, and to hire its CEO and some employees. The sources indicated that this deal was reached after previous negotiations between OpenAI and Windsurf stalled. Google's parent company Alphabet is hiring a small number of Windsurf employees to join its DeepMind division, focusing on "agentic coding." In addition, the tech giant will also gain non-exclusive licensing rights to some of Windsurf's technology.
