The number of unemployment benefit applications in the United States remains stable near this year's peak.
According to Gate News bot, Bloomberg reported that the number of unemployment benefit applications in the United States slightly decreased last week, stabilizing near the highest level in eight months.
As of the week ending June 14, the number of initial jobless claims fell by 5,000 to 245,000, in line with the median forecast from a Bloomberg survey of economists. According to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor on Wednesday, the number of continuing jobless claims (a measure of the number of people receiving benefits) also slightly decreased to 1.95 million in the previous week.
Data often fluctuates significantly, especially during holidays or school summer vacations. Overall, the number of unemployment benefit claims has increased over the past two months, reflecting a gradual slowdown in the labor market.
