The Czech government faces a vote of no confidence due to a $45 million Bitcoin scandal.

Gate News bot news, the Czech opposition party ANO called for a vote of no confidence against the government on Tuesday, following the resignation of Justice Minister Pavel Blazek due to accepting BTC donations from criminals.

The Ministry of Justice announced earlier on social platform X that it obtained approximately 1 billion Czech koruna (around 45 million USD) by auctioning nearly 500 BTC. Subsequently, Czech news media Denik N discovered that these BTC came from convicted dark web platform Sheep Marketplace operator Tomas Jirikovsky.

In March of this year, Jirikovsky's lawyer offered Blazek a donation of one third of the BTC, but Blazek accepted the donation without fully investigating the source of the funds, which led to widespread condemnation. The minister denied any legal wrongdoing regarding the acceptance of Jirikovsky's donation before resigning.

According to a report by Reuters, Karel Havlicek, the vice chairman of the ANO party, stated on Czech national television: "The current government should resign immediately." It is understood that a vote of no confidence is a formal procedure in which parliament members will decide whether to continue supporting the government or its leaders.
